The roads in our area need urgent care and attention.
On my recent walks around our area I have had the opportunity to take in the state of the roads locally and have been appalled at their condition, residents deserve better.
Many residents have mentioned having to repair their cars following battles with large and dangerous pot holes, and I have frustratingly shared this experience.
Not only does this impact car users, but it is dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians who may be impacted if vehicles swerve to avoid damaging holes in the road.
I'm beginning to question the amount of time the current councillor, who specifically holds responsibility over the roads and network links in the district, has spent in his own ward? Why has more not been done?
Pot holes and a lack of road markings are just the tip of the iceberg.
I would like to see a wide range of improvements to local roads, from fixing the pot holes to other safety improvements such as working to make Aberford road safer for primary school children by introducing a 20mph zone.
