Nic Stansby, the Wrenthorpe and Outwood West candidate was elected in yesterday's local elections, with 44% of the vote and a majority of 161.
Nic is the constituency's first Conservative councillor in some time,
Firstly, could we please thank all our members and activists who volunteered their time over the past few weeks to leaflet with us. Additionally, we would like to extend our thanks to the police, Council staff and the returning officer for running such a smooth election.
Newly elected, Cllr Stansby said: "I'm absolutely over the moon. I think it's been a really, really good night for us (Conservatives). Wakefield's been a Labour-run council for a very long time and we've made some inroads tonight. I'm filled with optimism for our future prospects"
